New Jewelry Boxes

These are two of my new upcycled jewelry boxes. I find vintage jewelry boxes and paint them to give them a face lift.

Day 6, Tuesday July 27, 2010
Slept in, morning swim and jacuzzi then drive back to Kona. Mike finally gets some surf after a long dry spell at Banyans. Closed the day with a visit to End of the world to throw some flowers in for Mikes Mom's Birtday with Bob and Kathy.

Wed. July 28th. Mellow day, I take a long walk to Kahaluu while Mike catches a few at Banyans'. Nice little breakfast at the condo, short nap, then some shopping. Mike gifts me with some hawaiian diamonds! So pretty, I get a new Maholo for removing your shoes tile, then we have a delishious dinner at the Royal Kona Thai restaurant with Mikes nephew Garrett. We drive up to his house in Haluahoa on 5 acres to watch sunset.
Day 4 July 25, 2010
Heading south to Sea Mountain, stopped at Hana Hou for lunch before checking in. Stopped at the black sand beach and watched a lone surfer catch a few before continuing on to SM. We have stayed a few times before but this was by far the best burre we have ever had. Gorgeous ocean front room over looking the golf course and pool and ocean, of course.

Day 5 July 26, 2010
Head further south to Pahoa and then to Pohiki for some hot pond. There is a beautiful thermal pond, small but right on the ocean in the most fantastic jungle. Really uncrowed because of a week day, a few local young families with there adorable keikis learning to swim. On to Ahanahaluie or Isac Hale hot pond. Another thermal pool, much larger with the waves crashing into the warm water. Really special. We stopped at the local health food store in Pahoa and noshed on Breakfast Pizza and a Calzone. Ran into the same family that was in the Pohiki pond earlier. Back to Sea Mountain for a swim and incredible orange full moon. Unforgettable.

DAY 3 Saturday July 24, 2010

Farmers Market at Keaho, then drive north for the hike into Makalawena. Fun little four wheel drive across the lava field, then gear up for the hike. This beach is my most favorite on the Big Island. The journey begins with passing an abandoned house that was once owned by a wealth Japaneese family who planned to build a resort. The locals said no whay and so it was abandoned. We call it Magoon's, I think because of something we read somewhere. It is most magical. The hike after is a tad brutal across a lava field. Takes about a half hour. I highly recomend tennis or hiking shoes. The hike is worth every min. The most gorgeous beaches ever await, snorkling is pretty good. There is a back way to 4 wheel in that the locals use, you can camp, I stress the "local use" Beautiful little lagoons to explore. After you tear yourself away from the place you can rinse off in a gorgeous little oaisis, fresh spring surrounded by coconut palms. A local boy treated us to young coconut juice. He climbed up the tree by foot and hand, and then opened the nut with his elbow! Pretty sunburt after this journey. Later that evening we enjoyed a lovely dinner with Bob and Kathy Fitts in their gorgeous home overlooking the Kona sunset. Heavenly
